Adding beads to your beard is easy if you know the right tricks. There are a few ways to do this to make it easier and keep those beads in place.

What are beard beads?

Beard beads originated in a number of ancient cultures, most notably, Viking and Germanic history. Beads of metal, wood or shell were used to decorate hair and beards.

How much hair do you need?

About 3-4 inches or more is needed to hold most beard beads.

Beard Bead Styles

These are some popular ways of wearing beard beads. Once you have tried out these standard styles you can get creative and make your own unique look.

Ponytail Style

Brush all of beard into a center mass. Feed the loop of a bead setting tool with a bead threaded on it, up the beard while grasping with your hand. Slide the bead up the bead setting tool then pull the tool down while holding the bead to feed the beard through the bead. Add a clear hair rubber band below the bead if more security is needed.

Divided braid

Divide beard into two, three or four sections depending on fullness and desired look. Braid a section and feed a bead onto the braid as described in the ponytail style. Add a clear hair rubber band below the bead if more security is needed.

Double side braid

Create a narrow braid on each side of your face somewhere between the ear and side of your mouth. This can also be done with longer moustache hair. Feed a bead onto the braid as described in the ponytail style. Add a clear hair rubber band below the bead if more security is needed.

Layer across

This style works with fuller beards. Make small even clumps or braids across the top layer of the beard. Secure each one with a bead as described in the ponytail style. Add a clear hair rubber band below the bead if more security is needed.

Using A Bead Setting Tool

A bead setting tool makes quick work out of feeding beads onto beards, braids or other hairstyles. If you don't have a tool, a length of thread can be wrapped around the beard or braid section and the bead fed up the thread to pull the hair through. We include a free bead setting tool and clear rubber bands with each beard bead set purchase.
